Scania Sounds Conference is a part of our showcasefestival and a great opportunity for music industy professionals (and those in other creative industries) to network and take part in a program full of interesting talks, panels and activities touching on relevant questions for the industry. Oh, and don’t forget: the festival is the perfect place to discover the best kept secrets and tomorrows gems from Öresund and beyond!

När politiska val närmar sig måste musiker och låtskrivare vara beredda på att höra sina låtar eller läsa sina texter i politiska kampanjer. Den svenska upphovsrättslagen, och i synnerhet de ideella rättigheterna, borde skydda vår immateriella egendom från oönskad användning, men det finns kryphål.
Kom och lär dig om grunderna i upphovsrättslagen med advokat Andreas Wendén och artistmanagern Jonas Finnkvist och hör om fall som Jason ”Timbuktu” Diakités tvist med Sverigedemokraterna 2019.

In this panel, the different ways that sound is expressed in public space will be discussed, as well as sound’s potential for conflict, inclusion, and exclusion in the urban arena, especially as it relates to culture and nightlife in Malmö. What forms does it take, which spaces does it occupy, and where and at what times is it a nuisance to others? Who may make sound, who is meant to experience it, and who will cover their ears?

15.00 Författarsamtal om boken ”Bakom artisterna: Sture Borgedahl – en ikon i musikvärlden”

Sture Borgedahl var legendarisk för sin koppling till The Beatles. Han säkrade rättigheterna till deras musik i Sverige och spelade en viktig roll bakom deras turné 1963. Efter framgångarna med The Beatles, grundade han 1969 musikförlaget Air Music Scandinavia tillsammans med bland andra Beatlesproducenten George Martin. Förlaget blev dessutom en plantskola för medarbetare, låtskrivare och artister.
Sture Borgedahl arbetade såväl med svenska artister som Lasse Berghagen, Cornelis Vreeswijk, Lill Lindfors, Janne Schaffer, Barbro Hörberg och Adolphson & Falk, som internationella artister, som Elton John, John Denver och Bob Dylan. Berättelser från kända röster i boken belyser hur han stöttade dem och blev en trygg punkt i branschen.
”Bakom artisterna” skildrar Sture Borgedahls gärningar och möten, och hur han under sju decennier (1938-2007) var med och formade den svenska musikindustrin. ”Bakom artisterna” är skriven av Sture Borgedahls dotter Ylva Lilja och barnbarn Ann Isler som nu kommer till Scania Sounds för att samtala med Eva Karman om boken och – såklart – Sture.

14.00 The (equal) music industry of the future

How do we support the music creators of the future? How do we ensure safe and inclusive spaces within the music industry so that today’s young musicians can enter – and want to stay? The organization Popkollo has been working toward a more gender-equal music industry for over 20 years. By organizing music camps for young girls and transgender people, Popkollo serves as a breeding ground for the musicians of tomorrow. In this session, Popkollo shares its practical methods for creating a more equal music industry. We will hear what today’s young musicians need to realize their musical dreams – and what the industry can do to help.
